Every time I work with my IWPs, I wish there was more automation. Waiting for updates doesn't solve my current problem. So, I'm asking fellow InEight super users: what's the best way to keep IWPs and their components up to date?
Admittedly, I have too many CIs, and that doesn't stop me from splitting them into components. Why? Because I work with production periods and want to know the value of my AWPs (please vote for this in PLAN-I-313) and IWPs for each period. I also want to track their percent complete (and planned percent complete, which InEight doesn't currently support).
Starting with my CIs, I slice them into components in Excel like this: CI1#Period 1 … CI1#Period n. Then, they need to be imported, and when the work package is re-planned, I have to repeat the process. This feels illogical. Ideally, my components would automatically follow my IWPs, but since they don't, I end up exporting and importing thousands of components.
Anyone has a better route?
