Do you have experience pulling data from Compliance into Power BI?

We are new to InEight Compliance (really all of InEight as we are mid-implementation) and are in the process of building our safety incident tracking workflow in Compliance.  We have a team of report developers that are telling me the data is very difficult to access from the database (we have Replicate).  For example, we have a 4W form that we fill out for initial incident notification to capture basic info and I'm told this data goes into 33 different tables on the back end, making the reporting and data manipulation a bit of a nightmare.  Has anyone else had experience pulling data from Compliance to Power BI? What has worked for you?

Hi Macy,

I won't be able to accurately answer as per your specific requirements, unless I know more about it. However, based on my experience with Compliance  Power BI reporting for one of our clients ( although its been some time since I did that), we obviously used the self-service Compliance reporting APIs to fetch the data and as far as I remember, each of the forms had the header data in a seperate table dataset, and then the sections data in another table dataset and so on. Evetually, after building out the relationships between the tables in the semantic model of the dashboard, it all started making sense. That helped us in structuring the data in the format we wanted.

Appreciate this, Sara!  We do have Explore, I will take a look at the APIs and see if they give us more user-friendly data than what we are seeing in Replicate.

@macy.kite Great question! That does sound like it makes the data quite complex. A lot of our customers look to our Reporting/Explore APIs to help manage the data. Specifically, Explore APIs are generally intended for BI use cases and can be connected to Power BI. If you have the Explore product this might be a helpful solution!
