Estimate to Control Sync

Question

Hello, newbie here!  I have done the initial sync of my project from estimate to control but we have added in new cost items.  When I go to do the sync again, will it only pull over the new cost items?  I've read that this is how it works, but for peace of mind I'm hoping someone here can confirm that this is what actually happens.

Hi Kristyn,

Yes, when you select the item/s, you are sort of forcing it to bring them over, overwriting them even though they exist as opposed to a sync where only data that has changed/is new is brought over. On the back end, it does a sort of differential comparison.

Great, thank you Robert!  Is there a way for Control to know what items are new versus me selecting them?

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. It will depend on what the job status is. If the job is in "new" status, then it acts as a full overwrite, deleting and rewriting everything. If the job is in "active" status, then it triggers a selective import and you can pick whichever cost items you want to bring over, and it will add them to the structure. I hope this helps.
