InEight Document Use Cases

The last thing we ever want to do is create more work for our project teams. As organizations continue down digital transformation adventures and with each client/contractual requirements being different, how is your organization using InEight document?

Do you find that you are using yours and the client's/engineer's DM software?
Are you still using a network drive as well, potentially now having multiple locations for documents?
Are you using Document as your organization's final document storage for projects?

Very true. We have also looked into using SharePoint as a replacement and did something similar internally with power automate. I like the idea to incorporate something similar with external.

Do you all leverage Change and the ability to create an RFI from an Issue that was generated via the Daily Plan? This and submittals are really some bang for our buck functionalities I feel on our end.

Using Microsoft Power Automate to transfer documents into a formal system is a really cool idea I never thought about. My organization used SharePoint in the past, but now we're trying to move it to Ineight Document for better document control, however, I also need to continue explaining both within the organazation (since the system is new) and to clients (so they understand the transmittals).

Transitioning to a digital document management system and integrating it seamlessly into workflows sounds like an exciting prospect. However, when working with clients who have firm views on document management, I often need to start by explaining the difference between records and documents. Their mandatory systems are frequently cumbersome, requiring a solution that bridges the gap between the two.

To simplify the process, I typically secure permission to use SharePoint for document management up to a certain revision or stage. This allows for easy metadata creation in SharePoint, with Microsoft Power Automate configured to mark and/or transfer documents to the client's formal system.

In the Nordics, network drives have been largely phased out for years.
