Subcontractor Hours

How is everyone differentiating Direct hours from Subcontractor hours?

In Estimate we dedicate specific CBS line items to roll up the discipline specific subs. This is then linked to the workbook so that specific premiums are not applied to those hours.

I'm a simple man and don't care about tracking subcontractor hours in my Estimate. However, I do track them in a production app we are using.

During the estimation phase, self-performed scope is typically calculated based on a combination of labor hours and productivity rates. This involves assessing the expected output per unit of time for each activity and determining the total hours required to complete the work.

In contrast, subcontracted work is generally estimated by collecting quotations from external vendors or subcontractors. These quotes provide cost benchmarks for specific packages of work and are evaluated for competitiveness, scope coverage, and alignment with project requirements.

Both self-performed and subcontracted scopes are then mapped to specific WBS and CBS codes, ensuring that each cost component is properly categorized and traceable throughout the project lifecycle.
