From my perspective as an estimator, I’ve found that accurate cost tracking at the account code level makes a big difference when it comes to benchmarking and future estimates. When the data is captured consistently and with enough detail, it’s easier to move past high‑level project totals and actually understand where costs are landing and why.
One thing I’ve personally appreciated in InEight is the Account Code Utilization Register in Estimate. Being able to see how account codes were used on past projects—and compare that directly to a current estimate—has helped me sanity‑check assumptions and get more confidence in the numbers I’m building.
It’s not perfect, and it definitely depends on the quality of the actuals coming in, but when it’s there, the data feels a lot more defensible than relying on rolled‑up history or gut feel.
I’m curious how others are handling this. How are you leveraging benchmarking data today? Are you using InEight largely as designed, or are you pulling data into something else like Power BI to analyze it differently?
